Meet the Author

Candria Slamin (they/them) is a nerdy, Southern poet from Virginia. As a Black lesbian, Candria uses poetry (and sometimes creative nonfiction) as a way to identify, explore, and poke at the intersections of their life. Their poems can be found with Pigeon Pages, The Hellebore Press, and Agapanthus Collective, and their articles about video games and the gaming industry can be found with The Daily Fandom and Sage Cigarettes Magazine.

They were named a Periplus Collective 2022 Fellow, a HUES 2021 Scholar, and “Best of the Nest” by Pigeon Pages. They have also been shortlisted for Kissing Dynamite’s 2020 Microchap Contest, nominated for Best of the Net by The Daily Drunk, and started as the Sage Bytes Editor for Sage Cigarettes Magazine. Most recently, they were nominated for a Pushcart for their debut microchapbook, And the Universe Said I Love You.

And the Universe Said I Love You, came out with Alien Buddha Press in 2022, available here. Their second microchapbook, Every Night I See My Grandfather’s Ghost, is a part of Ghost City Press’s 2023 Summer Series, available here.

When Candria isn’t poeming or writing, they are busy being gay.
